无论是全封闭式水表还是半封闭式水表的外壳，其材料都可以根据水质的不同而选择，一般来说，如果水质较差，外壳材料应该选择钢板，如果水质较好，外壳材料应该选择不锈钢。半封闭式水表外壳的典型材料是钢板加工成的，而其制造工艺也比较简单。但是半封闭式水表外壳需要进行压力封闭，否则水雾和气体会导致内部部件的腐蚀，使水表的使用寿命大大缩短。
对于水表外壳加工工艺，根据水表的不同类型和使用要求，可以采用不同的工艺方法，进行水表外壳的加工。如果要制造一个全封闭式水表外壳，可以采用钣金加工、冲压加工等方法；如果要制造一个半封闭式水表外壳，可以采用锻造或锻压加工方法；如果要制造一个普通水表外壳，则可以采用注塑或铸造加工方法。

If you want to manufacture a fully sealed water meter shell, you can use sheet metal processing, stamping processing, etc.; if you want to manufacture a semi-closed water meter shell, you can use forging or forging processing; if you want to manufacture an ordinary water meter shell, you can use injection molding or casting processing.
The most widely used processing method for water meter housings on the market is sheet metal processing. Sheet metal processing is also called stamping processing, which is a processing method that uses press or other machine tools to press the surface of the workpiece into the required shape. Sheet metal processing has the advantages of low cost, fast speed and simple process compared with other processing methods. Generally speaking, the cost of manufacturing water meter housings by sheet metal processing is about half of that of other processing methods.
